EVOLUTION
The 2005 Fuel has evolved from five years of in-house R&D, thousands of hours of testing, meticulous attention-to-detail, and custom size refinement to deliver the icon kite for freeride kiteboarding. Slingshot's signature kite, it represents the highest level of innovation, durability, performance, and simplicity in a kite.

2005 CANOPY PROFILE
The 2004 Fuel introduced Splitstrut. The 2005 Fuel introduces it¹s complimentary cousin, Reactive Leach Technology (RLT). RLTactivates when the trailing edge tension adjusts to varying wind conditions, delivering more forgiving and effi cient performance. As your kite gets hit by a gust, the trailing edge opens, allowing the kite to fl y to the edge of the window for better upwind performance. When it gets hit by a lull, the trailing edge closes, allowing the kite to fl y deeper in the power zone, delivering better low-end power. RLT is a controlled response to the Splitstrut technology, the umbrella feature of performance benefi ts for the Fuel.

2005 SIZE CUSTOMIZATION
Slingshot Kite Designer, Tony Logosz, made custom modifi cations and refi nements to each size of the Fuel for 2005. Tony¹s approach to kite design is unique because he doesn¹t ³scale² modifi cations on a kite. Many kite manufacturers scale improvements on their kites each year, making a change to one size and applying it to the full line.

"Copy-and-paste modifications are cheap, easy, and reflect poor R&D. Each kite is uniquely different...designs require detailed attention to each size. Every kite has a different angle of attack. A Fuel 7 needs to have more lift characteristics than a 17 because it¹s smaller and faster than a 17. But you want your 17 to turn just like a 7. So the 17 must be custom trimmed-out to fly to the edge of the window faster and easier. An easy way to look at it is in a kite loop, a Fuel 17 and a Fuel 7 should have the same turning radius. One will just be a little faster than the other. "
